From 1999 to 2003, Michael Mack completed tri-national studies in International Business Management based in Basel, Lörrach and Colmar, finishing with a degree in business management.
In 2010, Alsace Day took place for the first time in Europa-Park, during which visitors gained insight into the unique culture of the neighbouring French region on the other side of the Rhine. For many years, Germany’s largest theme park has also been inviting guests to a France-themed festival for the occasion of the Grande Nation’s national holiday on 14th July.
Since 2014 Michael Mack has sponsored the cross-border university prize ‘Prix Bartholdi’, which, as a tri-national competition in the Upper Rhine region, represents a unique project between Germany, France and Switzerland. He also maintains close relationships with the Academie de Strasbourg and is in regular contact with scientists on both sides of the Rhine for international cooperation.
With ‘The Minimoys Kingdom’, a new themed area was opened in Europa-Park in 2014, the design of which had been created in collaboration with the French star director Luc Besson and features fantastic backdrops from the successful cinema trilogy ‘Arthur – in the Minimoys’ Kingdom’.
Since 2017 there has been a cooperation with the traditional Parisian institution ‘Moulin Rouge’. This makes Europa-Park the only company outside of France with a business partnership with the famous variety theatre.
Four years after the successful opening of the family attraction ‘ARTHUR – in the Minimoys’ Kingdom’, another collaboration with Luc Besson follows: With ‘Eurosat Coastiality’, visitors can experience Besson’s space blockbuster ‘Valerian – The City of a Thousand Planets’ up close. Together, Michael Mack and Luc Besson have once again committed to strengthening the European film landscape.
In the spirit of bilateral relations, Michael Mack and his father Roland Mack met with French President Emmanuel Macron and Baden-Württemberg’s Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann in Strasbourg in 2018.
Due to his many services supporting the Franco-German friendship, as well as his active commitment to the cultural exchange between the nations, Michael Mack was appointed French Honorary Consul in 2018. As part of this honorary position, Michael Mack works to strengthen and promote cross-border cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
In Berlin, Michael Mack took part in the Franco-German digital forum at the French embassy in 2019.
In 2019, Michael Mack followed the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron to participate in the ‘Choose France Summit’ in the Palace of Versailles.
In 2020, Michael Mack founded the subsidiary Mack One France. He is currently working intensively on setting up a new creative hub for the company in Plobsheim, Alsace, where French and German employees are to work on innovative solutions as a joint team.
Together with his father Roland Mack, Michael Mack celebrated the 30th anniversary of the French office of Europa-Park in Strasbourg in 2020.
In the summer of 2020, Honorary Consul Michael Mack used the Grande Nation’s national holiday on 14th July as an opportunity to send a clear sign of affection to the delegating country. Around 100 top-class guests from the realms of politics, business and culture accepted his invitation to the reception – including the French Consul General from Stuttgart Catherine Veber and the State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Volker Schebesta.
Vive la Freundschaft
We not only share the Rhine, but also a wonderful friendship. For the French national holiday on 14thJuly 2021 and the 900th anniversary of the city of Freiburg, a video on German-French friendship was created together with Consul General Veber and Freiburg Mayor Horn.

Solidarity in unique times
In unique times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Franco-German friendship and cooperation are all the more important, as the example of Jean-Michel Marsal shows. Marsal was the first French patient from Alsace to be flown to the University Hospital in Freiburg due to a very severe Covid-19 infection. In a video message to Honorary Consul Michael Mack, Minister Brigitte Klinkert and Lord Mayor Horn, he thanked him for the extraordinary, cross-border cooperation and friendship. ‘Without the Franco-German friendship, I would not be here today,’ says Marsal in his message.
