First Cross-Border Discovery Day at Europa-Park

As the first Cross-Border Discovery Day since the start of the pandemic, this event was the culmination of the exchanges resuming between high school students from France and Germany. The meeting was officially opened by Mr. Vincent Muller, French Secretary General of the Committee for Cross-Border Cooperation (AGZ) and Ms. Mélanie Klein-Sawadogo, Coordinator for Franco-German Arrangements at the Strasbourg Academy, and also by the speeches of the two Secretary Generals of the German-French Youth Office (DFJW), Anne Tallineau and Tobias Bütow.

Launched in 2006 at the initiative of the German and French governments, the Franco-German Discovery Day allows schoolchildren to get to know companies or institutions in their region that work closely with the partner country, arousing their curiosity about the language and culture of the other country. For Michael Mack, this exchange, which is intended to promote learning the neighbouring language, is an important part of the measures to ensure the long-term employability of young people on the Upper Rhine.
